Bad Magic

I am beyond--

                    They are disappearing 
 
people who look like my children.

Watch me pull a rabbit;
watch them break its neck.

I am yet too

                     quiet in the absence,
 
lump and voice
 
                     fighting for sound and smooth.

They are disappearing history
                      & books 
                      & posters 
                      & films 
                      & jobs
                      & words
                      & love
                      & kindness
                      & mothers
                      & fathers
                      & children

I sit immobilized--

                      they are disappearing people

people who look like my children,
people who could be my children,
people who once were my children.
                                 They disappear 
Dis    appear

                                 like my children.
