Letter from the Editor

by Sterling Davis

We are four months into our postmodern tumult. While the rise of artificial intelligence convulses our society, and all that appeared firm disappears into thin air, we as a free people must be wary of gradualism and empty promises of security.

The largest threat to liberty is not tyranny but complacency. I fear that a state of repose has set in at every level of society. What is needed is a great reawakening. I exhort all people to recall the greatest example of what it looks like to be awake: The Odyssey by Homer, which I review and opine on in this issue.

Be awake to oneself. Be awake to beauty. Trust only in the strength of one’s soul.

Sterling Davis is the Executive Editor of Poetries in English Magazine.
